There has never been more travel information — and it has never been harder to know what to trust.

Why we exist

Every destination now comes with billions of pages of reviews, ranked lists, and AI-generated itineraries, and no reliable way to tell the genuine from the noise. The obvious answer would be to find an expert — but "travel advisor" has become a title anyone can claim overnight, and there's no way to tell who has real, hard-won knowledge from who simply showed up. Meanwhile, travel itself keeps flattening: the algorithm sends everyone to the same beaches and the same viral restaurants, until the trip you take is the trip everyone takes — and the crowds make it feel like they're all there at once.

So travelers lose twice.

They spend hours planning alone, never sure their sources are any good. And the trip they piece together still feels generic, built from the same flood of content as everyone else, not from genuine expertise tailored to how they like to travel.

Expertise hasn't disappeared, but it has been buried. The best advisors in the world — decades of experience, real relationships, judgment earned the hard way through years of firsthand knowledge — are harder to find than ever, drowned out by whoever is loudest rather than whoever is best.

We built Echelon to change that.

Who we are

Built for discerning travelers, by top advisors

Echelon Travel Collective was founded and is governed by advisors who sit at the top of the travel profession — consistent top advisors who have spent their careers earning the trust of the world's most discerning travelers.

Alexis Berlin, a Harvard alum and former McKinsey manager turned travel advisor, founded Echelon in 2026 to solve one problem: visibility in travel being mistaken for expertise. After working with and coaching dozens of travel advisors and agency owners, she noticed that the field's true top performers were rarely the ones surfaced by search engines and AI. Being good at this work — genuinely good — takes years, and it leaves little time to chase an algorithm. So the advisors gaining ground are too often the most visible, not the most capable, and in an industry where anyone can sign up and be a "travel advisor" overnight, the traveler is the one who pays for it.

We think that's backwards.

The traveler deserves the real expert. The expert deserves to be found. And the profession deserves a standard that helps travelers, suppliers, and search engines tell the difference.

Echelon exists to do just that: connect true travel experts to the discerning travelers who need them most. Find an advisor.

The Standard

Being an Echelon advisor means something, because we made it hard to be one.

The Echelon credential is independent — unaffiliated with any host agency or consortium — which means it answers to no commercial interest but the traveler's. It is free to earn, because a standard you can pay your way into is not a standard at all. And it is invitation-only, because the point is not to be large. The point is to be right.

Advisors are held to the most rigorous standard in the industry, evaluated on what actually matters:

  1. Volume and Tenure

A sustained record of high-value, high-volume travel planned over years, reflecting the time it takes to build the firsthand knowledge, relationships, and expertise that deliver truly exceptional travel (and differentiating real advisors from those who bought a title last month).

  2. Specialization

Proven expertise in specific destinations and travel styles, supported by a verified record of real client experience, recent personal travel, and performance on demanding knowledge questions that reveal understanding well beyond the standard.

  3. Peer Attestation

References from other successful advisors who can speak directly to their work, with the judgment of professionals who know the difference between generic travel support and true expertise.

  4. Supplier References

Endorsements from the hotels, operators, and partners they work with directly. Suppliers see which advisors truly deliver for their clients, and their word confirms the relationships and standing that set a real specialist apart.

  5. Client References

Testimonials from the travelers they have served, in each destination and style, showing how they deliver differentiated, exceptional value.

  6. Character and Values

Industry reputation, awards, and recognition. Our advisors are held to a standard of character, because being trusted with a traveler's most important journeys requires more than sales.

When you're matched with an Echelon advisor, you are not getting the one who bought the top spot. You are getting the one who earned it. Find an advisor.
